Homecoming Scotland
2009 is Scotland’s ‘Homecoming’ year. Inspired by the 250th anniversary of the birth of Robert Burns, Scotland’s national poet and international cultural icon, Scotland is hosting a year of celebrations that showcase many of Scotland’s great contributions to the world and provide a platform to reconnect with Scotland’s people at home and abroad. More than 400 special events and activities are taking place across Scotland during 2009, culminating in a spectacular programme of Homecoming Finale Celebrations with more than 40 events across the country from 26 to 30 November 2009 - the biggest ever programme of events co-ordinated to mark St Andrew’s Day.
