Glasgow: Scotland with style
Proud to support the Scottish Style Awards
Glasgow is a place where stylish things happen! With its magnificent architecture, world-renowned museums and galleries, fabulous shopping and vibrant nightlife, the city has been the stunning setting for the Scottish Style Awards since their inception in 2005.
Glasgow’s year-round events programme is always superb, but seems to take on an extra special sparkle in autumn/winter when its performing arts scene is truly exceptional and Scottish Ballet, Scottish Opera and the National Theatre of Scotland, among many others, take to the stage.
Just opened on September 12 - and not to be missed meanwhile - is Trongate 103, a new centre for the arts and creativity, which is home to eight of Scotland’s most vibrant arts organisations including Glasgow Print Studio and Transmission. Set over six-floors in a former Edwardian warehouse, Trongate 103 offers visitors the opportunity to participate in, view and buy a wide variety of art, kicking off with a series of special exhibitions for the opening season.
Glasgow’s credentials as a UNESCO City of Music also continue to go from strength to strength with performances across the entire spectrum from contemporary and classical to Celtic and country all coming up, including Homecoming Live - the Final Fling, featuring some of the finest established and cutting-edge Scottish musicians at the SECC and King Tuts over the weekend of 27 - 29 November.
Finally, if shopping is your passion, why not download a copy of the Glasgow style mile guide at www.glasgowstylemile.com. Armed with this handy new publication, you will be able to navigate one square mile of shopping heaven comprising Sauchiehall Street, Argyle Street, Buchanan Street and the Merchant City.
