Scottish Enterprise, working with over 450 textile brands across knitwear, weaving, apparel and technical, is making great strides in forging a raft of exciting commercial partnerships between Scotland’s breakthrough fashion stars and many of the country’s most established textile manufacturers. These dynamic commercially-led partnerships demonstrate the ability and appetite of the Scottish fashion and textiles industry to join forces to compete, and lead, in an increasingly competitive global market.
By combining the manufacturing expertise, world-class skills and distinguished heritage values of Scotland’s renowned textile firms with the innovation and fresh dynamism of the country’s next generation of design talent, the Scottish textiles industry is adapting a fleet-footed approach for the 21st century. Under the ‘Scotland at the Cutting Edge’ strategy, Scottish Enterprise and Scottish Textiles is committed to supporting these partnership endeavours to help ensure continued development and growth. These include a number of successful industry-led activities overseas including the ‘From Scotland with Love’ fashion showcase and direct sponsorship support for technical and design innovation which has resulted in commercial and critical success.
As the definitive benchmark of Scottish fashion excellence, Scottish Textiles is proud to support the Scottish Style Awards 2008 Runway Show. This annual showcase offers an exclusive opportunity to collectively see, for one night only, the country’s hottest fashion talent including much of the impressive Scottish Textiles Collaboration collections. Furthermore, it provides a unique opportunity for these new designers to engage with the industry’s leading figures including buyers, fashion and distribution agency owners, trade bodies, and influential style and trade media, through a range of one-to-one coaching sessions, group workshops and general public-facing exposure.
