SCOTTISH STYLE AWARDS 2009
GLASGOW, SCOTLAND

The Scottish Style Awards Fifth Anniversary took place amid the quixotic surrounds of the The Old Fruitmarket in Glasgow's Merchant City, on the evening of Saturday 31st October.

The event was staged once again in association with Moët & Chandon - Official Champagne to London Fashion Week, VisitScotland and Glasgow: Scotland with style.

Established as Scotland's foremost celebration of creative endeavour, the Scottish Style Awards salute inspirational individuals and enterprises that enrich society through their distinguished activities in fashion, music, the arts, stage, screen, retailing and hospitality.

This year's spectacular ceremony, hosted by Sophie Ellis Bextor before a celebrity-studded VIP audience, began with the sound of popping corks at a glittering Moët & Chandon reception. The Awards commenced in a suitably stylish fashion thereafter, spanning thirteen prestigious categories with one recipient of each presented with the striking Model Citizen-designed award. The hotly anticipated Fashion Designer of the Year runway show and live music performance by the brilliant The Phantom Band augmented the evening, with an exclusive after party rounding off the night.

Award categories, assessed by a panel of illustrious judges, ranged from Scotland's most stylish Male, Female and Band or Musician to Fashion Designer of the Year. Tastemaker of the Year, the penultimate accolade of the ceremony saluted those Scots whose creative endeavours have impacted on our cultural life and defined or redefined our understanding of style and creativity. Scotland's most stylish Boutique and High Street retailer were named along with the cream of the hospitality industry via the most stylish Bar, Restaurant, Hotel and Entertainment Venue. The ceremony culminated in a very special award honouring an individual or enterprise that has made an outstanding and enduring contribution to Scottish style.

In every respect, the Scottish Style Awards 2009 was the most glamorous night of the year.
